In the final year of the program, BFA students will take the Graphic Design Digital Portfolio and Professional Practice course. Each spring, PSU Graphic Design students will participate in the annual student showcase Be Honest. In the final year of the program, graduating Seniors will participate in Fresh—the A + D Graphic Design Senior Showcase. The event allows students to network, display their work, and get feedback from industry professionals. As part of the Cal State LA Department of Art, all degree-seeking students have the opportunity to present their work through weekly rotating exhibitions in the student-run exhibition space COMA Gallery. The College of Communications & Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) houses the Department of Art and Art History, which has a Graphic Design (GRPH) Emphasis within the Studio Arts Program. During the final year of the program, students will assemble their dissertations (40-80K words) across Coda I & II. The two-year program, MGD II, is designed for students with a BFA in Graphic Design and experience in the field. The three-year program, MGD III, is for students with a BA in another field or with a Concentration in Graphic Design.

Part of the Department of Art and Design, the Art and Design BFA requires 120 units of study, with 52 units in the Graphic Design Concentration. Students in this program will explore design history, animation, book arts, human-centered design, typography, identity design, UI/UX design, and illustration. The VCD Department also offers the opportunity for students to participate in juror-led student workshops, entry jurying, and jurors’ lectures through the Chicago International Poster Biennial (CIPB). At the graduate level, California College of the Arts offers an MFA in Design with a focus on Graphic, Interaction, and Industrial Design. The two-year option is designed for students with experience in one or more areas of design.
